Class & Comp Draft
Posted On: Mar 08, 2019
This is the draft from Ralph Anderson (class & comp study) regarding our classification titles, it shows our salaries against the ten comparable cities. If you see any mistakes or the phrase “No Comparable Class”, this is where you need to do some homework and see if there IS a comparable title or job description of that City that compares to your job class or title. As you all are the subject matter experts in your classification you will know the job duties that apply to particular job classifications. This information is very important for you to review and respond if there are issues with your classification, so the Board can try and fix any problems NOW with the City/Study! Any responses should be returned to your Director no later than March 15th, or emailed to info@mcea1.org. The Labor Market Salary Survey used the Journey classification as the benchmark so you may not see your classification if you are in an entry or senior level position. When you review the salary survey we are especially interested in hearing about the following issues/questions: 1. Where the data shows “no comparable class”, is there a comparable class in the agency that matches the members’ job that the consultant overlooked? 2. Where the data shows a comparable job title for a particular agency, did the consultant use the proper comparable classification given the employees’ actual job duties (not just the title)?
