Happy New Year Team PW;
This year we compiled attached first Annual Public Works Report for Fiscal Year 2018-19 (July 2018 – June 2019). This report highlights your accomplishments and hard work that you have put in to maintain and operate city infrastructure.
I would like to thank the Public Works team for your continued effort and tireless spirit.
ICMA Representative (Deferred Compensation 457 Plan) consultations are available.
Each month an ICMP Representative will visit various City of Modesto work sites offering FREE one-on-one consultations on a first come, first served basis. Scheduled one-on-one consultations are also available for those looking to schedule an appointment at Tenth Street Place (City Hall).
As most of you have heard we lost one of our own last week. MCEA is mourning the loss of Johnny Garcia Jr. Johnny was a member of the City of Modesto and MCEA family for 18 years working in the Forestry Division of Public Works. He will be greatly missed, his wonderful sense of humor always lightened the work load.
The update to the By-laws will conform with the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) Janus ruling regarding Fee Payers. This proposed amendment will remove all language that references Fee Payers as that designation is no longer allowed per the SCOTUS Janus ruling.
The nomination forms were turned in and vetted, we have 3 unopposed candidates for the new term of office beginning January 2020. Those candidates are Erik Cervantes for President, Yasamin Latchin for District 8 Director and Paula Redfern District 10 Director.
Since there were no other candidates for those offices an election vote is not required per the MCEA Bylaws Article 8 section C.
